The Liberia Telecommunications Authority LTA, has held a stakeholders meeting of the Liberia Internet Exchange Point Association (LIXPA) to define a pathway on how to make the EX-change Point more visible.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Zotawon Titus, who is the oversight Commissioner for the Exchange Point and head of the International Gateway Services Department said he was glad for the level of attendance.
Commissioner Titus hopes that the deliberations add value to LIXPA in finding a way to establish the new management framework to take over from the LTA interim management team.
Following a day of lengthy deliberations, several resolutions were reached which include the validation of the by-laws and constitution as well as the governance framework that will determine the activities and progress of LIXPA.
The meeting agreed that election be held on September 30, 2020 and the induction of elected officials will be on October 30, 2020.
A Consensus was also reached by all stakeholders that the LTA which is the interim management team stay on and continue to handle the activities of LIXPA up to the elections scheduled for September 30, 2020 amongst others.
Stakeholders in attendance were Orange Liberia, LoneSTAR Cell, LIBTELCO, Internet Society of Liberia, Cable Consortium of Liberia (CCL) and Powernet Liberia among others.
The meeting was held at the LTA office in Paynesville.
